• Who gets gum infections?  Anyone could get affected by irritated gums which will eventually lead to gum infections if not acted upon immediately.  At one point in everyone’s life we’d have a brush with oral health issues.  Infection of the gums is perhaps one of the most common issues affecting our oral cavities.  People with poor oral hygiene practices gets hit the most with gum diseases.  However, there are people who meticulously do their oral cleaning routine but are still prone to such problems.  It can be due to genetic explanation.  Others may get it due to trauma to the mouth.

    Whatever the reasons may be, a gum infection can be cured.  Antibiotics and pain relievers mostly does the pharmaceutical side of treating oral issues.  The former reduces the swelling that usually accompanies gum infections while the latter relieves the patient of the pain.  Home remedies may be employed whilst waiting for the doctor’s appointment.  Rinsing the mouth with warm saline solution could also alleviate the pain and reduce the engorged gum tissues.  Continue maintaining proper oral hygiene to prevent further development of complications.

    Mint is usually one of the variants of toothpastes and mouth washes available in the market.  It may say it has the minty flavor, but mint just makes up a minimal percentage of the components as most are synthetic materials.  Mint is an herb famous for freshening up the mouth and breath but it is more than that.  Mentha as it scientifically known have amazing therapeutic properties, among which is its germicidal characteristics by hampering the increase of harmful bacteria in the mouth that cause gum infection.

    Products with this natural element, mainly mixed with essential oils can stand for two or even three products you would use for in maintaining good oral hygiene namely toothpaste, mouthwash and breathe freshener.  The product cleans like the widely accepted toothpaste, though in a liquid form, but more effective in restraining harmful microbes.  A concentrated mixture could go along way at a reduced price given that it takes the place of more than a single product.

    So to avoid gum infection, good oral sanitation must be sustained.  This regimen on a daily basis should include brushing at least twice; flossing once, the very least; and rinsing off with antibacterial mouthwash, as needed.  Then twice a year or as advised by the dentist, drop by the clinic for prophylaxis and routine oral check up.  Avoid smoking and don’t go overboard on sugary products.  That’s a procedure that won’t make the bacteria happy.
